Plea against setting up beach resort at Tanir Bavi

Mangalore , Sept. 18

THE honorary President of the Tanir Bavi Nagarika Vedike, Mr Ivan D'Souza, has urged the Government not to set up a beach resort at Tanir Bavi by evacuating 185 families there.

Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, he said that the beach resort could be set up at an alternative place near the proposed site. He said the relocation of the residents would affect them, as they were dependent on the sea for their livelihood. He also urged the elected representatives to take action in this regard.

Meanwhile, a memorandum by the Vedike to the Deputy Commissioner of the district said that the officials of the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) were surveying the area for setting up a beach resort there.
