`India fastest growing market for Oracle in Asia'

Our Bureau

Bangalore , Sept. 18

BUSINESS software maker Oracle said on Thursday that India was the fastest growing market for the company in the Asia Pacific region last quarter. "Oracle has had the best quarter in India this year as against all the other previous financial years in terms of licensing revenues. India and China are the fastest growing regions and India is the fastest," said Mr Derek Williams, Executive Vice-President, Oracle Asia-Pacific, in a conference call.

Commenting on the outlook, Mr Williams said, "Whenever we had a good start in first quarter, we always tend to have a good year." Attributing the company's good growth in India to key verticals such as BFSI, government, telecom and manufacturing sectors, Mr Williams said, "A number of small and medium businesses are also contributing to the overall sales growth." Apart from India, the company had witnessed strong growth in the Australian market, while the rest of the Asia Pacific market has also bounced back for Oracle, he said.
