State-level panels to be set up for CAS implementation

TO ensure that the conditional access system (CAS) is implemented the Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry has decided that State-level committees would be set up.

Speaking to newspersons, the I&B Minister, Mr Ravi Shankar Prasad, said that the recommendations made by the various State Governments would be considered when new areas are notified for CAS.

The State implementation committees will comprise officials from the I&B Ministry, Secretary level officers from the States, consumer groups, multi-system operators (MSOs) and law enforcement agencies, he added.
