Meet on hydrocarbon flow from Sept 22

Palakkad , Sept. 19

A THREE-DAY international conference on `Hydrocarbon flow measurement', organised jointly by the Fluid Control Research Institute (FCRI), Palakkad, and Petroleum India International (PII), will be held here from September 22.

The Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Mr Subodh Mohite, will inaugurate the conference in which more than 300 delegates from hydrocarbon flow industries in India and abroad are expected to participate.The conference aimed to highlight various measurement techniques practiced in the hydrocarbon industries and to provide a common platform to the users and designers, Mr M.S. Konnur, Director, FCRI, said at a press conference.

The accelerated pace of changes in the market and the technology had necessitated an effort to consolidate the gains of the inputs in the field by way of research and design development, he said and added that one of the prime objective of the conference is dissemination of best practices and research information about flow measurement to the hydrocarbon sector.

According to Dr V. Jayaraman, Joint Director, FCRI, the advanced flow of metering, modelling techniques, development technology for new metering needs, multi phase flow measurement were some of the topics and coverage of the conference.

There would be 50 technical papers presented during 14 technical sessions spread over during the three days of the event. The present conference was receiving splendid response in terms of large number of technical papers both from foreign experts as well as from India, he said.

Mr K.I. Raphael, Chief (Personnel & Administration), said that an exhibition on the sidelines of the event had also been arranged to provide an opportunity to the flow product industries and the R&D laboratories to showcase their products and achievements. Petroleum giants such as ONGC, GAIL,

Reliance and many other reputed firms had confirmed their participation for the conference, he said.
