Food processing park inauguration

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation's food processing park at Kakkanchery in the State's Malappuram district will be dedicated to the nation on September 25 by the President of India, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

The park, located in an area of 60 acres, is intended to cater to different segments of the food industry, including fruits and vegetable processing, milk and milk products, meat and poultry, says an official press release. Developed with an assistance of Rs 4 crore from the Ministry of Food Processing, Government of India, the total investment in the project is around Rs 19.5 core.

Most of the development work related to the park has been completed and some tenants have already been allotted land.

Besides several private entrepreneurs, the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) would be a major tenant in the park.
