BPCL ties up with Honda Siel for LPG gensets, geysers

Neha Kaushik

New Delhi , Sept. 19

THE State-run Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd has tied up with players such as Honda Siel to help launch gensets and geysers that run on LPG.

According to Mr S. Radhakrishnan, Director (Marketing), BPCL, "We have tied up with Honda for gensets and with Racold and Spherehot for geysers. The feasibility study for the products has been completed".

The products though will be more environment friendly, will be priced on the higher side, as there is no subsidy for LPG for commercial applications.

"The product will be useful in rural areas where there is a lack of proper electricity supply," Mr Radhakrishnan said. The LPG-run gensets and geysers will be marketed and distributed through the distributor channel of Bharatgas, the LPG marketing arm of BPCL.

Bharatgas has also tied up with Hindustan Lever Ltd and three other kitchenware brands for selling grocery items and kitchenware to its LPG customers through its distributor network.

Sangam, a HLL subsidiary, is currently home delivering about 3,000 grocery items (carrying a discount on the maximum retail price) ordered through Bharatgas distributors in parts of Mumbai.

There are plans to extend the scheme to more cities.
