Kochi , Sept. 21

The Kinfra Food Processing Park at Kakkanchery in Malappuram district, which will be dedicated to the nation by the President, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, on September 25, is developed at a total project cost of Rs 1,950 lakh in 60 acres with the assistance of Rs 400 lakh from the Union Ministry of Food Processing. The zone caters to fruit and vegetable processing industries, milk products, poultry and meat products, grain processing industry.

A statement issued here said that various developmental activities such as land development, common facility buildings and road networks had been completed.

Companies such as Parison Foods Pvt Ltd, Kozhikode, Foster Foods (P) Ltd, Thrissur, Sancy Food Processing Company, Kozhikode, Central Warehousing Corporation, Rime Rich Foods (P) Ltd, Thrissur, etc., have been given allotment in the park.

The Central Warehousing Corporation has been allotted with 4.21 acres for setting up the cold storage facility in the park and the quality assurance lab will be set up in two phases and will consist of three sections.

The construction of the 33/11 kV substations and the internal power distribution work (phase 1) is completed and handed over to the KSEB. The primary treatment of all effluents to the common system will be undertaken by the industries themselves at their premises as per the norms of the State Pollution Control Board.
