KOCHI: Escotel Mobile Communications Limited (Escotel) in association with the Election Commission is to provide election-related information through SMS.

According to an official press release here on Saturday the company said that it was a useful service offered for the first time in the country. Through this service the public in Kerala can access electoral roll data on their Escotel mobile through SMS, it added. Meanwhile, Escotel and the Kairali Television have jointly launched a talent hunt called `Grab the Spotlight' contest in Kerala.

It will be an intercollegiate contest having participants from 14 districts across the State. Announcing the launch here, Mr Ramakrishna, Escotel Chief Operating Officer (COO), Kerala, said mobile phone of late had become "a driver of self-identity and creative pursuits especially for the youth segment which constitutes about 70 per cent of the new customers that we enrol every month".
