Kochi boat show begins tomorrow

KOCHI is gearing up for a spectacular tourism show, the first international boat show to be held in the country from September 26 and 28.
The exhibit space for the India International Boat Show 2003 has been totally sold out. On display at the 52,000 square feet of air-conditioned riverside lawns will be luxury motor yachts, sport fishers, performance boats, personal watercrafts and other marine accessories and electronics.
"All indications to date point to a solid show in terms of attendance," Prof K.V. Thomas, State Minister of Tourism, said. Of a total of 60 exhibitors - nine of whom are international participants, 34 national companies and 17 from within the state - Kerala tourism, the organisers of IIBS are highly enthusiastic about the success of the event, a press release issued here said.
As many as 145 buyers are already registered and almost half as many are coming in as trade visitors. More buyer registrations are expected to come in the coming days as well.
"With such an impressive attendance of who's who from different parts of the world, it is not tourism in Kerala alone but the booming marine industry in the regions which will also benefit from the show," Mr T. Balakrishnan, Secretary, Kerala Tourism, said.
