Teaserve sale fetches Rs 2.4 lakh

THE `inaugural' auction of Teaserve on September 24 saw 93 bags amounting to a quantity of 3,344 kg of tea coming up for sale. The maximum bid price was Rs 300.

Mr T. Udhaychandren, MD, Indcoserve and the chief architect of Teaserve told Business Line that Rs 2.4 lakh was realised through this inaugural auction.

Around 40 odd buyers including the Chairman of Tea Board participated in the auction. The amount raised is to go to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Ms Jayalalithaa's temple scheme charity.

The Indco chief said that October 1, would see around 6 lakh kgs of tea come up for sale.
