New Products & Services Pentamedia releases `Son of Aladdin' Our Bureau
Chennai , Sept. 25 PENTAMEDIA Graphics has released its fourth full-length 3D animated feature film Son of Aladdin. Costing $3.6 million, this action adventure thriller is about the Prince of Basra, Mustafa who is hunted by the evil sorcerer Zee Zee Ba. The story is about how the prince grows up totally oblivious of this, meets his ladylove and also rescues his long lost parents. The running time of the film is 80 minutes and has been produced using motion capture technology and a photo realistic environment. The movie has been produced in nine months with 1,100 shots and motion capture duration of 90 minutes. Another feature about this movie is that the reuse of digital assets of the company for the sets and characters in the film. There are a total of 125 characters in the film averaging 2,00,000 triangles and 2K resolution textures, 32 sets and 2K rendered images occupying over 2 terabytes. The film was released on the East Coast of the US in late August coinciding with a long weekend, said Ms Sumathi Sridharan, Vice-President, Pentamedia. She said that the theatres were 24 per cent full and they were able to break even. The company has tied up with WalMart to come out with one million replicas priced at $6.99 for Thanksgiving on a revenue sharing basis, she said. The next plan is to the take the film to the multiplexes, which also had the advantage of the spill over crowd.
