IT Training Aptech, IIIT (A) partner in project Our Bureau
Mumbai , Sept.25 APTECH Ltd has partnered with the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad, to develop a software tool for use in Web-based education. The Rs.2.6-crore project titled `Development of Learning Content Management System' commenced in May this year. The IT training organisation and IIIT-A would jointly patent the product. While the release of the first version of the LCMS product is slated for October 2004, the final product would be launched in June 2005, according to company officials. Aptech hoped to deploy this product at various universities, Mr Pramod Khera, CEO and Managing Director, Aptech Ltd, told the media here on Thursday. The learning content management system would comprise an intelligent authoring system, a learner management system and a standards-based content management systemThe Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India is providing Rs 60 lakh for the project under its technological self-reliance scheme. This two-year project with the IIIT-A is part of Aptech's ongoing collaborative efforts with the academia, Mr Khera told Business Line. The company plans to establish colleges offering full-time degree courses at various cities located across the country. ``We have invested Rs 3 crore in the Atrium college at Chennai and our plans include opening 8-10 colleges which offer similar programmes. The proceeds from the GDR issue would partly be utilised for this,'' added Mr Khera.
