Sheet rubber down on poor buying

THE rubber market showed a mixed trend on Monday. Sheet rubber RSS 4 fell to Rs 49.50 per kg against Rs 50 as on Saturday in the absence of quantum buyers. RSS 5 was also weak while all other grades remained static without much trading interest.

The covering group kept a low profile while traders came forward to sell rubber observing the weakness in the international markets. The world market at Bangkok shed 23 paise to close at Rs 52.55 a kg against Rs 52.78 for Rs RSS 3 as on the previous weekend.

The futures market also declined on Monday. The near-month October delivery was traded at Rs 50.32 (Rs 51), November delivery at Rs 50.41 (Rs 51.42), December delivery at Rs 50.50 (Rs 51.47) and January delivery at Rs 50.60 (Rs 51.53) per kg for RSS 4.

The market opened weak and moved down further on selling pressure. The Monday spot market rates per kg follows: RSS 4 Rs 49.50 (Rs 50); RSS 5 Rs 48.25 (Rs 48.50); ungraded Rs 47 (Rs 47); ISNR 20 Rs 47.50 (Rs 47.50); latex 60 per cent Rs 38 (Rs 38).
