Ministry approves 15 foreign tech collaboration cases

THE Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Mr Arun Jaitley, has approved 15 cases of foreign technology collaboration/franchise agreements based on recommendations of the Project Approval Board (PAB). In addition 7 cases of Industrial Licence have also been approved.

Agreements granted approval include a technical collaboration agreement between Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Ltd and Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan for the manufacture of a new model Multi Purpose Vehicle; an agreement between Bharat Electronics Ltd and Alenia Marconi Systems S.p.A. Italy for surveillance radar element; Cadila Healthcare Ltd and Swiss Serum & Vaccine Institute, Berna, Switzerland for anti-rabies vaccine and a technical collaboration for the manufacture of LPG/CNG powered three wheeled vehicle by Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd.

The Licensing Committee (LC), in its meeting held on September 19 had also recommended seven proposals for grant of industrial licences and/or amendments in existing ones. The main sectors/areas of the recommendations include defence, bio-technology, chemicals and textiles.
