e-auction of Coimbatore teas by month-end

Our Bureau

Coimbatore , Sept. 30

THE tea auction system in Coimbatore is set to go electronic before October end.

The process of identifying the vendors is on. Association sources are certain that the pilot bidding would go live and kicking before the third week of October. The refurbishing works have started and is expected to be complete within a fortnight.

The project, conceived to take off in March, has been delayed by six months, but the association sources seem keen to take on to the e-auction mode.

The Tea Board has borne the entire investment cost for launching of the India Tea portal, leaving just the cabling and other minimal works to be taken care of by the association.

It is reliably learnt that the board has come forward to extend financial aid up to Rs 10 lakhs for completing the work.
