Telemedicine link tested

Our Bureau

KOCHI: Reliance Infocomm on Tuesday demonstrated a preview of its enterprise solutions capability for telemedicine display.

Reliance Infocomm, in association with Televital, demonstrated the technology by providing 2-Mb bandwidth connectivity between the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium, where the 50th birth anniversary of Mata Amritanandamayi was celebrated here. The two locations were 15 km apart, a press release issued here has said.

Telemedicine is a technology wherein a medical practitioner from one location can provide online consultation to any other location having connectivity. As a component of its enterprise network strategy, Reliance Infocomm has planned to link desktop devices across enterprise buildings, empowering efficient transactions through offerings such as high-speed Internet, video chat and video conferencing facilities.
