Ircon to fence border at Gujarat

RAILWAYS-OWNED Ircon International Ltd has been sounded out by the Ministry of Defence to carry out fencing work along the international border with Pakistan in Gujarat. The company had earlier carried out fencing along the Bangladesh border.

"The Ministry of Defence has approached us for fencing 130 km of the border in Bhuj district of Gujarat. We have already started surveys for the work," the Managing Director of Ircon, Mr B.S. Kapur, said after presenting a dividend cheque for Rs 18.75 crore to the Railways Minister, Mr Nitish Kumar, here. Ircon has been tasked with the construction of residential units for the Army in Jhansi, Bhopal and Allahabad at a cost of Rs 390 crore, Mr Kapur said.
