MRO-Tek launches Ethernet device

Bangalore , Sept. 30

MRO-TEK, last mile access and network solution provider, on Tuesday launched FCAT-M, an Ethernet over fibre access device, claiming that it would contribute 20 to 25 per cent to the company's growth. The new product has been designed and produced indigenously, said Mr S. Narayanan, Chairman and Managing Director of MRO-Tek.

Explaining its features, Mr C.S. Ramakrishnan, Vice-President (Marketing), said the new device converts signals that it receives form one media type to signals appropriate to another, media type with the technology to link, monitor and manage remotely network devices and equipment.. In addition, the device helps carry Ethernet signals over a single fibre, resulting in doubling the capacity of the last mile network.

Mr Ramakrishna said the device was first of the series to be released in the market over the next three months It can be adapted to different kinds of network connectivity for distances up to 100 km.

Mr Narayanan said it cost Rs 8 crore to develop the product.

He said MRO-Tek hoped to garner 3-5 per cent of the market share of the 250 million units global market for the Ethernet on fibre device in about three years.
