Kyocera opens arm in Bangalore

LEADING manufacturer of CDMA phones, Kyocera Wireless Corp has set up an Indian subsidiary Kyocera Wireless India (KWI) here, investing close to a million dollars.

KWI expects to contribute to the product and technology roadmap of the parent company, said Mr Samartha Nagabhushanam, Managing Director, KWI.

The initial focus of the company would be on developing software, Mr Nagabhushanam told Business Line, adding that the Indian subsidiary expected to expand its role slowly to other aspects such as sales and marketing in the country.

"We are also open to carry out hardware design and engineering activities form the Bangalore centre, may be at a later date," he said. The Indian development centre is initially expected to contribute to about four to five product lines of Kyocera.

Kyocera had invested close to a million dollars in setting up the Bangalore centre.
