The Rural e-Seva project of Andhra Pradesh came in for particular appreciation at the CSI National IT Awards for 2002-03 held here.

While Hyderabad claimed three awards, Pune bagged four, Bangalore and Haryana won one award each. Winning the CSI-TCS award for best IT usage, the Andhra Pradesh Government's e-Seva project was recognised by the Computer Society of India (CSI) for its contribution to spread IT to the masses.

Instituted by the CSI, India's leading body of IT professionals the National IT Awards were sponsored by Infosys, Wipro and Tata Consultancy Services.

"CSI National IT Awards recognises and commends the significant contribution made by IT professionals. In response to this year's awards we received over 64 entries and most of them were good projects," Mr Anand Pathak, President, CSI, said on the occasion. Panel of judges comprised Dr Keshav Nori of TCS, Mr H.R. Mohan of The Hindu, Mr S.D. Pradhan of Iopsis Software and Mr Anil Kekre of Satyam.

Other winners include Divinet Access Technologies, Pune for CSI-TCS Award for Best IT Usage with runners-up WeP Peripherals Ltd for their project `Empowering the Brick Economy with Click Economy.' The CSI-Wipro Award for packaged Application was given to Satyam Computer Services Ltd, Hyderabad for their product Mantra and Pune-based Compulink Systems Pvt Ltd while C-DAC won the runners-up award in the same category for its online management and monitoring system.

The CSI-Infosys Award for Best Shrink-wrapped product was bagged by Pramati Technologies Pvt Ltd for Pramati Server while joint runners-up were Pune-based Neilsoft Ltd for DiEdifice and Hughes Software Systems Ltd for HSS 3 G End-to-End System.
