CII meet on transparency
Our Bureau
HYDERABAD: Marking the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, the Confederation of Indian Industry (AP chapter) is organising a session on `Transparency in Public Life' here on October 2. "Our aim is to effectively address the issues related to transparency in Government, politics, business and society at large," Mr V. Vasan, Head (CII-AP), said here in a press release.
"Corruption undermines development and hampers the effectiveness with which domestic savings and external aid are used in many developing countries," he said, while asking corporates to work on embracing corporate governance as investors, customers, employers and vendors are expecting greater transparency and fairness in dealings.
"Corporate governance is a vehicle to maximise long-term shareholder value in a legal and ethical manner, ensuring fairness, courtesy and dignity in all transactions of the company," Mr Vasan said.
Mr D.V. Manohar, Past Chairman (CII-AP); Mr A.P. Jitender Reddy, MP; and Mr Y. Harish Chandra Prasad, Convener of CII's Infrastructure Panel and Managing Director of Lanco Kondapalli Power Ltd will take part in the meeting.
