Our Bureau

HYDERABAD: The one-lakh odd Bengalis, "who have made the twin cities their home away from home," have geared up to celebrate Durga puja here. Those who are slated to add colour to the fete are Jo Jo, Deboshree Roy and leading cricketer V V S Laxman.

"It's not just a religious festival. It's an occasion which brings people, cutting across religions, together," Ms Chandana Khan, Principal Secretary (Tourism & Culture), Andhra Pradesh Government, said. Briefing newsmen about the fete being organised by the Bangiya Sanskritik Sangha, she said "festivals highlights richness of culture of a particular place."

"The Tourism Department has been promoting USPs (unique selling proposition) of different places. This approach also helps us revive some dying art and folk forms," she said.
