Shipping Industry & Economy - Events Mumbai to host Maritime expo from Oct 8 Our Bureau
Mumbai , Sept. 30 REPRESENTATIVES of shipping companies from 25 countries, including the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Norway, USA, UK, Sweden and Denmark, will gather at Mumbai to attend the third India International Maritime Expo (INMEX) from October 8 to 11. The four-day event will have an international maritime exhibition with interactive sessions on the emerging opportunities in the areas of shipping, shipbuilding and ports and harbours in India, West Asia , South Asia and South-East Asian region. It will also feature an exhibition of the latest marine, cargo handling equipment, electrical, dredging, shipbuilding and port development equipment. One of the unique features of the event will be the INMEX conference and forum, which would provide a platform for interaction on certain critical issues facing the maritime industry. The subjects that would be discussed during the event include shipyards-capability and technology upgrade, fleet modernisation of Indian coast guard, ONGC's offshore marine support requirements, ISPS code by Classification societies, development of inland waterways, potential for cruise liners and business perspective of Indian ports.
