Thiruvananthapuram , Oct. 1

THE State Government has invited applications for the `Energy Conservation Awards 2003'. Administered by the Thiruvananthapuram-based Energy Management Centre, the awards are given in five categories that cater to different segments.

Application forms can be obtained from the offices of the Energy Management Centre and can also be downloaded from its Web site, www.keralaenergy.org, a press release said. Completed applications must be submitted by November 3.

Separate awards have been instituted for large, medium and small-scale enterprises, with businesses being classified into each segment based on the size of the capital investment and also on the size of the annual energy bill.

Besides, there are separate awards for non-governmental organisations and individuals such as journalists working in the area of energy conservation, the release added.

The awards will be given for work carried out in the last financial year, but in some cases the energy conservation efforts of enterprises over the past three financial years will be considered while assessing applications.

For individuals, the applications will be evaluated on the nature of their activities in the sphere of energy conservation, the release added.
