Labham outlets for entire Kerala

Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Labham fair price outlet network under the Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation (Supplyco) would be extended to cover the entire State, according to the Minister for Civil Supplies, Mr G. Karthikeyan.

The Labham stores were first introduced one year back. The practice up till now has been to convert select Maveli fair prices shops with high turnover into Labham outlets. But this was now sought to be dispensed with. It has been decided that only full-fledged Labham outlets will be set up in future.

According to Mr Karthkeyan, 94 Labham outlets were set up during the last year. Another 100 outlets will be set up during the next year. The Minister said 44 sites have already been identified for the purpose in Thiruvananthapuram (12) Kottayam (8), Ernakulam (15) and Palakkad (9).
