New Delhi , Oct 6

A LARGE number of trade leaders belonging to more than 150 trade organisations of Delhi on Monday staged a `Protest Sit In' against recent TIN (Trader Identification Number) order of the Sales Tax Department of Delhi Government.

The traders termed the `TIN Application form' as unnecessary and a black document. "The form runs into 10 pages and is very tedious," Mr Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary of the Confederation of All-India Traders (CAIT), said. The traders demanded the immediate withdrawal of TIN, which are to be enforced from November 1.

The Sales Tax Department of Delhi had issued orders for replacing the sales tax registration numbers of dealers with TIN numbers.

The traders later burnt "TIN effigy" amid chanted protest slogans. The `Sit In' was organised by CAIT.
