Derby plans outlets in Hyderabad

Our Bureau

Chennai , Oct. 7

AFTER earning revenues of nearly Rs 6 crore from its outlets in Tamil Nadu during the previous fiscal, the Chennai-based Derby, which specialises in men's business casual wear, is planning to set up two exclusive outlets in Hyderabad through the franchisee route in the next three months. It already runs an outlet there.

The expansion in Andhra Pradesh, where Derby will set up 17 shop-in-shops in addition to the three exclusive outlets, will be followed by its entry into Kerala and Karnataka, according to its Managing Director, Mr Vijay Kapoor.

At the same time, Derby is planning to establish three more outlets in Chennai, where it runs four outlets and has 17 shop-in-shops.

The capital cost for setting a 1,200-sq ft outlet comes to Rs 25-30 lakh, and as expansion will be through franchisees, revenues will be shared, he said. Mr Kapoor said he expects revenues to grow to Rs 9 crore this year.
