Infotech Network signs $30-m deal with US co

"Our USP lies in identifying small and medium enterprises in the US that want to outsource to India but do not know how".

Ahmedabad , Oct. 8

THE Bangalore-based Infotech Network Group (ING), a 15-member consortium of IT and ITES affiliate companies, has announced that it has signed a $30-million offshore service agreement with the $90-million Colarado-based Quovadx Inc.

Mr Madhavan S. Pillai, Chairman and CEO, ING, told presspersons that the contract would be spread over three years and was worth a minimum of $10 million each year.

"We have already begun executing the first phase that is worth $4.6 million through our affiliate company, Manjushree Infotech, Kolkata, which is a B.K. Birla group company. Our USP lies in identifying small and medium enterprises in the US that want to outsource to India but do not know how. It is these companies that are the potential clients of Indian companies that have built up large infrastructure, including manpower, but are now grossly underutilised due the industry downturn,'' Mr Madhavan said.

The $4.2-million ING had identified the Mumbai-based CVS IT Services with its workstation in Surat to increase its presence in Gujarat,

As many of the South Indian centres already had a surfeit of BPO activities, Mr Pillai said.

It was left to his company to ensure quality work on the one hand from the affiliate companies and timely payment on the other from the clients, he said, adding that the company had signed up to start a call centre training institute of world standards in Dubai over the next few months.

Some of the other affiliates of ING include TVS Infotech Ltd, Chennai, Sharp Info Solutions, Coimbatore, Kedia Infotech Ltd, Secunderabad, Total Outsource Inc and Hinduja TMT Ltd, both Bangalore.

The company's business associate in Sri Lanka is Sammanee Technologies, a company promoted by former Lankan cricket captain, Arjuna Ranatunga.

ING hopes to close this year with a turnover of $14 million, a large portion of this coming from the percentage fee charged on its affiliates for lining up an array of US clientele.
