Discovery Channel to show film on military aviation

Our Bureau

Mumbai , Oct. 7

DISCOVERY Channel will premier `Aakash Yodha,' a film on military aviation, on October 11 to commemorate Air Force Day. The first completely indigenously produced and directed programme on the channel, the film showcases the role of the Indian Air Force in the Kargil War, and in guarding the remote areas of the country.

"We are premiering this film in line with our commitment to bring India-centric programmes to Indian viewers," said Mr Aditya Tripathi, Director - Marketing, Discovery Communications India. "Since we launched `Discover India' in April, we have showcased more Indian programming in the channel, and we hope to increase the amount of local content on the channel to 30-40 per cent." Going forward, the channel expects to produce India-centric segments even for international Discovery series, he added.
