NSSO survey on job scene

Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Field Operations Division (FOD) of the National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO), under the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, will be conducting a survey on the national employment scenario during January next year.

This was disclosed here by Mr A. Neelakantan, Additional Director-General, NSSO (FOD), while speaking at a function. The new approach to assessing the employment scenario was being formulated on the express instructions of the Prime Minister, he added. The separate employment and unemployment schedules envisaged to be brought out during the 60th round of the survey would help truly capture the employment scenario all over the country. The survey would now be done on an annual basis.

Later, Mr Neelakantan gave away the certificates of excellence to best performers in the South Zone of the NSSO for year 2000-01. The certificate winners from Kerala were Mr Viswambharan, Mr P.S. Nair, Mr C. Chathan, Mr P. Jayakumar, Mr B.M. Suresh Kumar, Mr R. Sadasivan, Mr G.P. Pillai, Mr K.M. Baby, Ms Lekshmikutty, Mr K. Mohandas, Ms Vinishya and Mr M. Sadanandan.
