Rubber prices up on widespread buying

KOTTAYAM: Rubber rates moved up on Wednesday. All the grades improved on widespread buying while the arrivals to the main marketing centres were still meagre. Sheet rubber RSS 4 closed at Rs 50.50 per kg from Rs 49.50 on Tuesday.

The world market at Bangkok closed at Rs 56.54 a kg on Wednesday for RSS 3.

The futures market flared up sharply quoting the near-month November delivery at Rs 53.25 (51.99), December delivery at Rs 54.65 (51.73) and January delivery at Rs 54.72 (53.94) per kg for RSS 4. The Wednesday spot market rates per kg were as follows: RSS 4 Rs 50.50 (49.50); RSS 5 Rs 48.75 (48.25); ungraded Rs 47.50 (47); ISNR 20 Rs 48.50 (48); latex 60 per cent Rs 39.50 (39).
