Hyderabad , Oct. 15

THE e-procurement projects of two more State Government departments, Panchayat Raj (PR) and APSRTC, have been formally launched this week with the respective departments releasing their tenders online.

As part of its e-governance initiative, the State Government has decided to implement e-procurement process in the Departments of Irrigation, Roads and Buildings, APSRTC, AP Technological Services, Panchayat Raj Engineering Department, Public Health Engineering and Social Welfare.

"Besides giving us the cost advantage, the e-procurement process would lead to transparency and efficiency'', Mr V. Prabhu, Engineer-in-Chief, Panchayathi Raj, said.

"We will be offering tenders worth Rs 400 crore before the end of this financial year," he said in a press release here on Wednesday.

The APSRTC, which procurers spare parts and materials worth Rs 200 crore every year, sees a nation-wide quality bidding as a result of the e-procurement process, according to Mr R.P. Singh, former Managing Director of the corporation.

APSRTC's project went live early last week. "We will take this model to other States once we complete the process in key Government departments in Andhra Pradesh'', Mr Vivek Agarwal COO and President of Commerce One, said in the release.
