Advertising Government - Politics Ministry suspends `India Shining' ads till Dec 1 Our Bureau
New Delhi , Oct. 15 IN the wake of the Election Commission pulling up the Government for the recent `India Shining' advertising campaign, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry has decided to suspend advertising till December 1, till after the elections. The I&B Ministry has written to all the concerned Ministries and Public Sector Undertakings to stop releasing these ads. According to sources in the I&B Ministry, the `India Shining' campaign does not violate the EC code. "But since the Commission has raised the issue, we have decided to suspend it," they said. The ads are being released by the Directorate of Audio Visual Publicity (DAVP) and not by different Ministries. The I&B Minister, Mr Ravi Shankar Prasad, had earlier in the week defended the campaign and said, "The ads do not talk about a particular party but talks about national achievements."
