Bangalore , Oct. 16

EXECUTIVE Director of Shaw Wallace & Co, Ms Komal Chhabria Wazir, has been chosen as the winner of the Young Achievers' Award 2003 in the field of business instituted by the Society magazine. She was declared the winner by a panel comprising eminent business personalities — Mr Kumarmangalam Birla, Chairman, Aditya Birla Group and Mr Adi Godrej, Chairman, Godrej group, followed by a polling from the readers.

"Thirty is quite a young age to take over the mantle of a $2 billion company. But after the death of industrialist Manu Chhabria in April 2002, his daughter Komal Wazir hasn't allowed the company profits to dip. She is the Executive Director of Shaw Wallace and director at other companies of the Dubai-based Jumbo Group that is spread across 25 countries. Komal is also a director at other group companies — Dunlop India, Mather & Platt, Hindustan Dorr-Oliver and Falcon Tyres.
