Tea Mixed trend at Kochi tea auction Our Bureau
Kochi , Oct. 20 A MIXED trend persisted for almost all varieties of tea at the Kochi tea auction. Though the dust sale witnessed a good general demand, it was comparatively low for leaf varieties. Of the quantity of 9,75,000 kg on offer in the dust category, good liquoring CTC's remained steady to firm and occasionally dearer. Other CTCs barely remained steady and tended to ease. Less enquiry of orthodox and market remained steady. The best CTC varieties commanded prices between Rs 45-67, medium CTC realised Rs 37-42 and poorer type were quoted Rs 26-30. Highgrown BOPD fetched prices between Rs 50-106. There was only a fair general demand for leaf varieties and the quantity on offer was 2,42,000 kg. Orthodox leaf grades generally lower by Rs 2 to Rs 4. CTC's easier by Re 1 to Rs 2. Buyers for the CIS region and other exporters operated on Orthodox leaf grades with less strength. The best Nilgiri varieties commanded prices between Rs 45-63, medium Orthodox realised Rs 32-49. The best CTC leaf fetched prices between Rs 37-45, while medium CTC leaf were quoted Rs 31-35. In the dust category, Kodanaad CL-BOPD fetched the best prices of Rs 106, followed by Havukal BOPD by Rs 105. In the leaf varieties, Chamraj OP realised the best prices of Rs 92 followed by Kodanad BOPF-CL by Rs 85.
