Kerala imposes ban on Nestle, Cadbury batches

Our Bureau

Thiruvananthapuram , Oct 20

THE Kerala Health Department has imposed a ban on one batch each of chocolate products from confectionary majors Cadburys and Nestle.

Earlier, search operations conducted at random by food inspectors at two places in the district had stumbled on cases of worm infestations in chocolate bars.

The ban has since come to be imposed on Batch No: INRORASW6 of Nestle and No: 245313 of Cadburys, both bearing a June 2003 manufacturing date.

The action has been taken under the provisions of the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, sources in the Health Department said.

The search operations would be extended to cover the whole State and special care would be taken to ensure that the confectionary items are kept under proper hygienic conditions, they added.
