New Delhi , Oct. 20

THE Finance Ministry today clarified that it has extended the last date for filing of tax audit report by corporates and other assessees whose accounts are to be audited under Section 44AB of the Income-Tax Act, 1961 till November 30.

"The due date of filing of tax audit report u/s 44AB of the Income-Tax Act, 1961, is extended till November 30," according to a statement issued by the Ministry here. The clarification follows an earlier Central Board of Direct Taxes' (CBDT) order, dated October 16, which merely referred to a one month extension granted in respect of filing IT returns under Section 44AB, without specifying whether a similar extension beyond October 30 had been given for filing of tax audit report as well.

Today's statement further clarified that the new November 30 deadline is also applicable for filing of returns in the case of partners and of firms required to file audit report under Section 44AB.
