Net App plans focus on entry-level storage market

Rukmini Priyadarshini

Bangalore , Oct. 20

NETWORK Appliance is planning to focus on the entry-level enterprise segment in the storage market, with a host of specific storage systems.

The storage solutions market was growing at a rapid pace in India and Net App would cater to the entire range of requirements, said Mr Manish Goel, President, Net App India.

With a starting price-point of $10,000, the new systems give real low total cost of ownership,

Net App says its unified storage platform - where different kinds of network storage can be handled by one box - should help it to grow its 11 per cent market share.

The BPO, telecom, engineering development, consumer finance sectors were demand drivers, Mr Goel said, adding that their requirements were for massive back-end storage solutions.

Net App's Bangalore Technology Centre is poised to grow to 200 people in a year or so, Mr Goel said.
