32 cos to compete for CII energy management award

THIRTY-TWO companies from various manufacturing sectors will compete for the national energy management award instituted by the Confederation of Indian Industry - Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre.

The competition, in which 15 companies will be selected for the award of "Excellent energy efficient unit," will be held in Chennai on October 31 and November 1.

The winners will be selected after a public presentation by the companies, a detailed evaluation of actual savings achieved and reduction in energy consumption figures.

The objective of this competition is to recognise and award excellence in energy management, help the energy efficient companies share information and motivate others to achieve excellence, according to the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

The competition will expose the industry to the latest technologies on energy conservation.

According to Mr S. Raghupathy, Senior Adviser, CII - Godrej Green Business Centre, a panel of 12 judges short-listed 32 companies from 131 through a questionnaire survey.

The 32 companies will share their achievements in the last three years on energy conservation.

The 32 companies are made up of 13 from the southern region, nine from the West, five from the North, four from the East and one from Thailand.
