Kerala Fisheries Minister calls meeting

Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Minister for Tourism and Fisheries, Prof K. V. Thomas, has convened a meeting of Members of the Legislative Assembly and Parliament representing coastal areas in the State for inviting their suggestions on ways to resolving the crisis arising out of fishermen from the neighbouring States venturing out into Kerala's territorial waters.

The meeting would be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28, at the Thycaud Guest House here. The Office of the Minister of Fisheries has requested that those who have not received individual communication sent separately to this effect should take this as an official invitation and take part in the meeting. Earlier, Kochi had seen clashes between warring communities of fishermen from both States create a law and order situation over rights to fishing in Kerala's territorial waters.
