Tea Good demand for dusts at Kochi tea auction Our Bureau
Kochi , Oct. 26 A MIXED trend persisted for almost all varieties of tea at the Kochi tea auction. Though the dust sale witnessed a good general demand, it was comparatively low for leaf varieties. Of the quantity of 9,11,000 kg on offer in the dust category, good liquoring CTCs were steady to firm. Others tended to ease. Orthodox dusts barely steady and tended to ease. The best CTC varieties commanded prices between Rs 48 and Rs 67, medium CTC realised Rs 37-45 and poorer type were quoted Rs 26-30. Highgrown BOPD was quoted at Rs 110. The leaf sale witnessed only a fair general demand and the quantity on offer was 3,90,000 kg. Orthodox leaf grades were lower by Rs 2-3, while CTCs were in less demand. Market was easier by Rs 1-2. Buyers for the CIS region and other exporters operated on orthodox leaf grades with less strength. The best Nilgiri varieties commanded prices between Rs 42 and Rs 61, medium orthodox realised Rs 30-48 and plain orthodox were quoted Rs 28-30. The best CTC leaf fetched prices between Rs 35 and Rs 38, while medium CTC realised Rs 31-34. In the dust category, Kodanaad CL-BOPD fetched the best prices of Rs 110 followed by Puduthottam PD by Rs 70. In the leaf varieties, Kodanaad BOPF-CL realised the best prices of Rs 99 followed by Chamraj OP by Rs 98.
