Hearing on SCI stake sale deferred

Our Bureau

New Delhi , Oct. 29

THE Delhi High Court on Wednesday deferred its hearing to November 19 a petition challenging the sale of 51 per cent Government stake in Shipping Corporation of India.

A two-judge bench of the Delhi High Court, including its Chief Justice, Mr B.C. Patel, adjourned the hearing to consider a previous judgment on the sale of shares in a state-owned company. The petitioner — Forum For Peace and Justice — has contended that the privatisation of SCI should require Parliamentary approval.
