Campaign for birth certificate

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A week-long campaign for issue of birth certificates is being launched nationally on November 14, according to the Census Director, Ms Sheela Thomas.

All children up to the age of 9 (born on or after January 1, 1994) will be issued birth certificates. The Registrar of Births and Deaths, along with the district administration, is taking all efforts to make the issue of certificates possible, Ms Thomas said.

In Kerala, even though almost all births are getting registered, only 30-35 per cent are issued birth certificates.
