PM offers facilities for handmade carpet secretariat

THE Prime Minister, Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee, on Tuesday said that India was prepared to offer the necessary infrastructural support and other facilities for setting up the Secretariat of the World Forum for Handmade Carpets in the country.

"India would be happy to offer space and other facilities to house the Secretariat of the World Forum for Handmade Carpets proposed by the world industry leaders," Mr Vajpayee said in his inaugural address at the first World Conference on Handmade Carpets, organised by Carpet Export Promotion Council and Ministry of Textiles.

He said that India was committed to provide training, design, technology inputs and such infrastructure support as are required for the handmade carpet industry to contribute to growth in world trade.
