MTR has launched a new range of ready-to-eat rice meals including options such as jeera rice, masala rice, tomato rice and rajma chawal.

The 300-gm packs are priced at below Rs 20, and are targeted at professionals as well as housewives looking for options for their children. MTR has also launched a high-fibre, low-calorie product called Diet Delite, which combines moong daal and wheat, according to a news release.

"For the first time we are launching a complete ready-to-eat rice meal while simultaneously breaking the price barrier of Rs 30+ for ready-to-eat food by pricing the new range below Rs 20," said Mr P. Sadananda Maiya, Chairman, MTR Foods Ltd. The MTR range of ready-to-eat rice meals currently also includes sambhar rice and rasam rice. These will now be available in more than 4,000 retail outlets across Greater Mumbai, and extended to the rest of Maharashtra and Gujarat in two weeks' time, he added.
