Thiruvananthapuram , Nov. 10

THE Kerala State IT Mission, the official implementing agency for IT in the State, has said that it proposed to build on the leads generated from its participation in the just concluded BangaloreIT.com.

As the foremost IT event in the country, a large cross section of the industry was present in Bangalore this year also, according to a spokesman of the IT Mission. Representatives of 30 major companies met with the Kerala officials at the exhibition stall.

They include Siemens, Syntel India, Wipro, India Life Hewitt, Renaissance Information Technology Inc., Infoscript, FirstRing and Xansa and were mostly from the BPO and IT software development.

Other States that participated in the fair included Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Delhi, Chandigarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat and West Bengal. A select presentation was made by the Kerala delegation to CEOs of IT and ITES companies on the availability of quality human resources, low-cost broadband connectivity and cost-effective and high-quality infrastructure available in the State. Many of these companies were actively considering Kerala in the wake of Infosys setting up a software development centre in the prestigious Technopark here, according to the Minister of Information Technology and Industries, Mr P.K. Kunhalikutty, who led the delegation.

The State is promoting an InfoPark at Kochi with a state-of-the art 2-lakh sq. ft. built-up space getting ready by May 2004 over a 90-acre campus near the KEPIP Park in Kakkanad.
