KOCHI: The Dhanalakshmi Bank Ltd, the official bankers to the Travancore Devaswom Board, will open its seasonal branches at Sabarimala Sannidhanam, Pamba and Erumely. These seasonal branches will start functioning from November 17, a fax from the bank has said.

In order to cater to the needs of the pilgrims, all branches have been authorised to issue demand drafts up to an amount of Rs 10,000, free of commission. These drafts are expected to relieve the strain of the devotees, of carrying cash with them, while they travel. These drafts can then be encashed at any of the above branches.

The bank has also launched `Dhanam Sabari Policy', a group Personal Accident Policy to cover Sabarimala pilgrims, in the age group of 5 to 70 years. The scheme, which will be operational till January 31, 2004, will be available over the counter at all the bank branches.

The policy covers death or permanent/total disablement of the insured persons due to accidents. The scheme also takes care of the hospitalisation expenses necessitated due to accidents, the fax said.
