Hutchison Essar unveils location-based services in AP

HUTCHISON Essar South Ltd, the private cellular services provider, has launched two location-based services in Andhra Pradesh.

The company has expanded its network to 106 towns in the State, enhancing coverage in neighbourhood towns of Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry and Warangal.

With an increase in cellular footprint across the State, customers can now experience congestion free network that offers ease of connectivity and voice clarity coupled with relevant and innovative value-added services.

These new location based services are being test-launched in Andhra Pradesh for the first time. While the Buddy Service is targeted at the retail segment which can facilitate members of a team track the movement of colleagues, the other service seeks to leverage the location-based service concept and help in tracking vehicular movement. The vehicle tracking movement has been co-developed by Hutch and Citadel Health Ltd, a technology solutions provider for health and related areas.

Mr Kumar Ramanathan, Chief Operating Officer, Hutch, in a statement said: "Given the response we have received for our services, we are happy to increase our presence in the districts. Hutch has deployed over 400 cell sites across 106 towns in Andhra Pradesh. This reiterates Hutch's commitment to provide best of services to its customers."

Hutch has completed the deployment of 31 cell sites in Visakhapatnam and also expanded coverage in the adjoining towns of Pendurti, Ellamanchili, Vepagunta, Simhachalam, Narsipatnam, Chodavaram and Ankapalle. The company's presence in Vijayawada is now enhanced with a new cell site at Machavaram. This brings Hutch's total cell sites to 20 in Vijayawada. Hutch's coverage is also enhanced in towns such as Nuzvid, Tiruvur, Sattupalle, Vuyyur, Kondapally, Hanuman Junction, Jaggaiahpet, Mylavaram, Avanigadda and Chellapalle.

Further, the company has deployed a new cell site at Dowleshwaram, taking the total number of cell sites to nine in Rajahmundry. Alongside, Hutch has enhanced coverage in neighbouring towns of Rajahmundry such as Rajanagaram, Kovvur and in 15 more towns in the East Godavari district.

Hutch has deployed 7 cell sites in Warangal improving the coverage of Hanumkonda and Kazipet.
