Visakha Utsav from Dec 22

Visakhapatnam , Nov. 10

THE Visakhapatnam district administration is gearing up to celebrate Visakha Utsav 2003 from December 22.

The District Collector, Mr Sunil Sharma, who held a review meeting on the arrangements to be made for the festival on Sunday evening, said the administration was toying with the idea of branding the utsav if a major sponsor — a corporate or some other organisation — was willing to invest in it. Two event managers had been chosen for the annual tourism festival and memoranda of understanding would be signed soon with them, he said.

The Hyderabad-based Profiles Event Managers would be given the responsibility of putting up stalls on the Ramakrishna Beach Road and the funds would have to be raised on its own. The Concept group would have to organise musical nites by inviting movie and TV celebrities on all the four days.

Bungee jumping, para-sailing at Rushikonda Beach, a flower show at Kailasgiri, treasure hunt at the picturesque Yerramatti Dibbalu and Bhimili and traditional cultural events at Jatara were some of the events planned by Profiles, he said.
