Currently, helicopters have to fly over the runways at Mumbai airport for take off.

The exact cost of construction of the heliport, which is to be built by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), is yet to be worked out, sources said. The facility, however, is likely to be used by both public and private sector helicopter operators, officials said.
